About
The Book:
For most of his life, Prince Aster has known he would one day face the fearsome dragon known as Mandrake. For the past ten years this beast has burned crops, destroyed villages, killed countless worthy knights and generally made life in the Kingdom of Caledon a royal pain. Now the young prince has learned of a magic sword powerful enough to defeat the dragon.
The history books say it can be found in the ruins of a once great empire hidden somewhere beyond the Misty Mountain. If Aster can find the lost Empire, if he can brave the perilous journey through the mountains alone, if he can convince the ghost of the long dead Empress that he is worthy, then the only thing standing between him and the Empress Sword might just be a skirt.
The Empress Sword is the first novel from author Paulette Jaxton.
The Author:
Paulette Jaxton was born in Washington, DC on September 7th. She moved to Annapolis, Maryland when she was four and she still lives there today. Paulette is an only child.
She began writing prose and poetry in high school, but was encouraged to focus on math and science by well meaning teachers. A world famous poet once praised a verse she wrote about butterflies, until the women noticed a spelling error and pronounced the poem “a piece of crap”.
Paulette attended the University of Maryland at College Park for two years, but left to pursue a career in computer programming at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. Later she went on to work for Digital Equipment Corporation developing telecommunications software and advanced user interfaces. She currently works developing interactive kiosk technology for retail applications.
She kept her writings to herself until 2008 when she produced Form Letter Rejection Theatre, a podcast anthology of her short speculative fiction stories. Her first novel, The Empress Sword, is scheduled to be released as a podcast in late 2009.
